Vom Song 'Hurricane', der im Sommer letzten Jahres auf der EP 'Candy Bar Creep Show' erschien und mit dem verträumt-mystischen Sound und dem charmant-eklektischen Video die Gemüter begeisterte, werdet ihr das New Yorker Duo MS MR bereits kennen. Auch mit dem vor Kurzem erschienenen Nachfolger 'Fantasy', übrigens der erste Track des neuen Albums 'Second Hand Rapture', das am 14. Mai veröffentlicht wird, konnten Lizzy Plapinger und Max Hershenow überzeugen.Hier soll es aber nicht um die eigentliche Musik des US-amerikanischen Duos, sondern um ihre Mixtapes gehen, die ich euch ans Herz legen möchte. Mit bisher zwei an der Zahl und jeweils 14 Tracks bieten MS MR eine schöne Auswahl an Künstlern und Sounds. Von gehyped bis underground, von schnell bis langsam, immer aber durchdacht gewählt und mit einer Portion dunklem Wave-Pop, so wie MS MR eben auch selbst sind. You should know the New York duo MS MR from their song 'Hurricane', that has been released on the EP 'Candy Bar Creep Show' last summer and thrilled many minds with its dreamy-mystical sound and the charming-eclectic video. So did Lizzy Plapinger and Max Herschenow with their recently released track 'Fantasy', the first one from their new album 'Second Hand Rapture'.
However, I don't want to talk about the band's actual music, that I clearly love, but about their mixtapes, which I can highly recommend. With two of them so far and 14 tracks each MS MR provide a nice selection of artists and sounds. From hyped to underground, from slow to fast but always chosen in a well-conceived way and laced with dark wave pop, just as MS MR themselves.
